A nice evening...

So my family decided to do a last weekend of summer camping trip before the kids all started school, and before Kyle started work up again. We all went up to the Spruces campground, which is absolutely beautiful, and had a nice night. We ate ourselves some hobo, cowboy, tin foil dinners, enjoyed the fresh air, and sat around laughing our heads off at each other and remembering some great times within the past year! Kyle and I enjoyed being with everyone, but decided to blast off before the actual "camping" part of the whole experience took place, and came home to 3 dogs barking their heads off. Uggh.... I keep telling the kids someone is going to poison them, but they don't listen to me. I have to keep apologizing to my neighbors about their behavior.

We are now looking forward to our Labor Day weekend at the cabin, lots of shopping in Park City and Swiss Days!

Enjoy!

It's worth not being able to use your legs for a few days.

My inspiration... and my mom...

WE DID IT!!! And I WAS wearing high-heels...

I DID IT!!! About 2 1/2 months ago, I decided I was going to train for a half-marathon, and on Saturday I actually accomplished my goal! It was so exciting to work hard for something and do it. It was hard work, but VERY worth it. I was on a strict training schedule every day of the week!
I ran it with my mom and my friend Jessica from work. The whole week before, I was so nervous about it, and was almost freaking myself out of doing it. I just tried to stay really focused, and remember how long and hard I had been working on this. We (mom, dad, me, and Kyle) spent Friday night in Provo, and enjoyed a gigantic carb-loaded meal full of TONS of pasta and breadsticks from the Olive Garden. We went to our hotel after, and crashed.
Saturday morning, I woke up excited and nervous, but once I got to the start line and had gone to the bathroom, I was READY!!! It all started so fast, and before I knew it I was in a groove with Jessica, and we were haulin' down the canyon.... Oh... till mile 9.... then it hit me, I was freaking tired, and I still had 4.1 miles to go. I seriously had to start playing some mind games, and jamming out to my "It keeps you running" playlist on my sjpod. Did well till about mile 11... and then dumped what I thought was water all over myself... it was Gatorade... At about mile 12, Jessica put her new legs on and sprinted toward the finish line leaving me in her dust. I just slowed to an 80 year old jog, and focused on seeing Kyle's face when I crossed the finish line... okay .1 mile to go, and everyone is cheering for me... I saw the time clock at 2:23:13. WHAT!!! I wasn't supposed to finish in less than 3 hours! Where is Kyle? Where is Dad? Oh well, hopefully they see me! Legs burning, back aching, shoulders screaming, sweat pouring, blisters bubbling... left right left... YES!!!! I did it. And then Kyle and Dad showed up 1 minute after I finished. "Hey, did you do it?" Uhh...YES I JUST DID IT, and my legs are starting to cramp up real bad... Oh, and sorry you missed the most important part of the race, but I finished! Kyle was really proud and started to cry, no not really, but that would have been a great ending.
What happened after that was just a lot of endorphins flowing and EXTREME pain in my entire body, but I was happy all day. I could not stop thinking about how good the whole thing felt. I am so glad I did it, and can't wait to heal for a few days and get running again!!! YAY ME, MOM AND JESSICA! WE DID IT!

This is a fake re-enactment... sweet running belts...

Two really happy people we met after

Welcome

Penelope
AKA...
Penny

Yes, we have a new member of our family that arrived yesterday. The d*** pet adoptions at pet smart get to me everytime, but this time was especially different. I rounded the aisle that the dogs were on, and saw her. Amanda and I played with her for a bit, and decided to leave empty handed and broken hearted. Well, I told Kyle about her when we got home, and we happened to go to dinner by Petsmart, and somehow ended up in Petsmart again. Kyle saw her and loved her, and when he told me we could each have our own weener dog, I could not resist her! So we have now adopted another dog. WHAT THE HECK ARE WE THINKING??!!! Well, these pictures tell it all... Photo shoot courtesy of Matt McFarland
